There was a slight problem with the audio cutting out with the FT101E.

It turned out to be the mode switch. Here is a link to a page with a couple

If the Ft101E audio ever cuts sure to check the MODE SWITCH.
Above: I am just finishing up working on the FT101E with AADE.
The 4700 ohm resistor used with the back light of the digital display.
This LAMP Fuse..(the original fuse to protect the receiver front end..dual gate mosfet) is now a shorted out
lamp bulb. -- One reason why the FT101E has poor sensitivity is because of the build up of resistance in this
LAMP FUSE circuitry. So..I shorted out the fuse per the picture of the bulb in above picture.

A new protective circuit consisting of 4 small fast acting signal diodes was built and installed in the FT101E
antenna circuit - (on the receive side). You can see the schematic and the photos of the diodes I used.

Some receivers use only 2 diodes back to back..BUT..strong shortwave or local signals can overload a simple
2 back to back diode protective circuit. A much more effective circuit is 2 diodes in series each direction
which will act as a fast acting clamp to clamp the voltage around 1.4 to 2 volts or so and (hopefully) this fact
acting "diode clamp" will protect the somewhat delicate dual gate mosfet rf amplifer transistor.

Another mod I made to this FT101E was to use a 3N211 front end dual gate mosfet. They can be a bit pricey at
around $7 or $8 or more..depending on where you buy them (it). -- So..the protective circuit is a good idea.
I used plastic tie per below secure the wiring and coax cables (rg 178u mini coax). Below is the picture of where I tapped in
to a circuit board to find the VFO signal.  -- The AADE requires 3 signals from the FT101E and you have to couple in with a .01 disc ceramic and a
10 kilohm carbon trimmer pot. -- You have to adjust the 3 trimmer pots in a certain sequence and to a certain degree to get the AADE to stablize
and read the correct frequency for each band.
Above pictured the ribbon cable (ardinio cable) which is color coded and It interfaced nicely between the AADE circuit board and
the display on the front panel.
